Riding Vikings 42 Grimsby 3rds 27
Travelling with just 14 men, the Blues side always faced an uphill struggle. After borrowing a Vikings sub, and a last-minute front-row reshuffle, the Boars stamped an early advantage. Tries from Nathan Price-Salleh, Darren Spreadbury and Tony Bristow pushed the Blues into a commanding lead. But Vikings hit back before half-time to leave the Blues with a slender advantage.
Lightweight backs defending undid all the hard work up front for the Boars as Vikings tore through gaping defensive holes to seal their win in the second-half. But, late on, Phil Dann registered a well-deserved try after quick turnover ball won by Nick Purewal. Spreadbury posted the conversion to end with a 12-point haul.
